Dr. Emdin and I at an Educators for Excellence Event (2019)
Dr. Chris Emdin, a Professor at Teachers College at Columbia University, has a gift of sharing his own stories as a former NYC Public School teacher and infusing it with his research as a professor to offer practical tips on teaching. Two years ago, I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Emdin in person at the American Federation of Teachers: TEACH Conference and once again at an Educators for Excellence event. You can check out his website and his organization Hip-Hop Ed to see what a dynamic person he is. Better yet! Listen to this episode and hear for yourself. If you have not done so, grab his book For White Folks who Teach in the Hood and the Rest of Ya’ll too: Reality Pedagogy and Urban Education and share it with everyone you know.
