Vanessa Ceja-Cervantes and Amala Posey help connect educators to the Grand Canyon
It is National Park Week! Let’s celebrate! When you think of National Parks in the U.S. there is one that stands above the rest: the Grand Canyon. It is the epitome of natural beauty and America. This park is the only one to have a school system from kindergarten to twelfth grade. You can walk around 2.5 billion years of the earth’s history and this year it is turning 100 years old! Not bad for a park! Unfortunately, not everyone can experience this “wonder of the world”. To learn more about what the Grand Canyon is doing to connect schools to their site, I spoke with two enthusiastic staff members, Vanessa Ceja-Cervantes and Amala Posey, about their outreach to schools across the nation and what makes the Grand Canyon one of “nature’s best classrooms”.
